Mason City Kennel Club Fall 2023 Fall Basic Obedience class members!

Training classes are held every Fall and Spring. They are six weeks long. Spring classes will begin Monday February 26th 2024 - April 1st 2024. Classes start at 6:30 pm. Classes are limited.

Cost of Classes:

$90.00/1st dog

$70.00/2nd dog (same session)

$70.00/re-enrollment of a dog that has previously taken classes

Class Descriptions:

Puppy Training Class - This is a class for puppies between the ages of 2 months and under 6 months old that will cover teaching basic obedience commands, by focusing on teaching the owner/handler to train the puppy using positive reinforcement training techniques. Some of the topics covered in this class, to help your puppy have a great start in life, include socialization, house training, crate training, and general health care. Obstacles, (tunnel, ladder, etc.) are frequently used in this class to build the puppy's confidence.

Basic Obedience Class - This is a class for dogs 6 months and older that have not previously completed a formal training class, or for dogs that have completed other formal training but still need further conditioning. The Basic Obedience class is designed to teach the owner/handler to train the dog to be a good companion for years to come by using commands such as : sit, down, stay, come, and heel, among others.

Print and fill out the MCKC class application along with copy of your dog's vaccination record, check payable to Mason City Kennel Club and send to:

Each student will be assigned by the Training Committee to the Obedience class that best suits their dog and previous training class experience.

Students will receive a confirmation email verifying enrollment and information pertaining to assigned classes no earlier than two weeks prior to the start of classes.
